Born in Oakland, California, and raised in the San Francisco bay area, Shaunte’ Garrett, AKA “Lady Shaunte’,” was recently named the 2009 Stellar Award Winner for Gospel Announcer Of The Year! She most recently served as the Program Director and on the air Sunday mornings as the host for “Mighty Good Day With Lady Shaunte’” at "The New Soul of San Diego", KNSN 1240AM, since the birth of the radio station in 2004.

She loves radio and while maintaining the Sunday morning on-air shift she is also the writer for the nationally syndicated Donnie McClurkin radio show and the executive producer and host for the San Diego based gospel video show “Get Lifted!”.

Cal gospel announcers’ guild and prior to coming to KNSN she was a gospel announcer with 1040AM KURS where she held down the midday shift Monday through Friday and at KPRZ/KCBQ in San Diego for their Sunday morning gospel mix. She has worked for Soul Train, MTV, and the Source Awards in their talent departments and has a Bachelor’s degree in Radio Broadcasting.

Lady Shaunte’ has been nominated for other numerous awards including the “Horizon Award” for the GMWA 2006 and the “Newsome Award” in 2005. She won gospel announcer of the year at the 619 gospel music awards in 2005 which highlights San Diego artists and was a runner up for Dr. Bobby Jones’ gospel announcer of the year during his retreat in May 2006. She has served as moderator on the Urban Gospel Alliance panel discussion on Hip-Hop in the gospel industry as well as serving on the judging panel for the annual Heritage Day parade which takes place during black history month in San Diego, Ca. Outside of the radio world, Lady Shaunte’ has a cosmetologist license and goes to children’s group homes in the community to cut and style children’s hair. Her hobbies and interests include reading, bible study, traveling, meeting new people, acting, and of course music.

Lady Shaunte’ now resides in San Diego Ca, and is a member of the New Creation Church where Rev. Reginald L. Gary is pastor. She serves as a youth leader in her church and community where she emphasizes “right relationship with God through obedience”. Lady Shaunte’ believes her calling is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the masses and gives all honor and praise to God for everything He continues to do in her life. She is available for speaking engagements, voice-overs, event hosting and panel discussions.
