Born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan. Yumi belonged to a dance team of a famous dance studio when she's 9 years old, she practiced Jazz dance and tap dance, She performed many professional dance routines on stage and street performances.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Tokyo to go to a university, she joined a big university dance troop and has been crazy about Hip Hop dance for her entire university life. After graduating from the university, she worked for fashion firm. Then, she decided to go to the U.S which had been her dream, Finally she moved to Los Angeles, California. She learned English and worked for European shipping company for two years. She met a wonderful guy, got married March 2010, and moved to Denver, Colorado. In June 2010, she joined joy97.com as an on air personality for Japanese Gospel Music programing.

She loves radio and listens to all kind of music, R&B, HipHop, African, Reggae, Pops, Mixture, world music etc. DJ Yumi’s hobbies are such hiphop & African dance, driving, singing, taking photos, traveling etc. She loves nature, animals, people, and international environment.
